Irvine Contemporary is pleased to present Aspect:Ratio 2, a curated group exhibition of small-format works in all media by nationally recognized artists whose work reflects the interplay of concept, complexity, and scale. Opening reception, Saturday, January 24, 6-8PM.

After two decades of experiencing art works that seek greater and greater scale to fill seemingly ever larger volumes of art space, many artists are now responding with a counter proposition of small format and intimate works that require close, detailed, and more intimate appreciation. Aspect:Ratio 2, which follows our small-format painting exhibition, Aspect:Ratio 1, presents works that are small in scale but rich in detail and conceptual context. Several artists invited to participate in Aspect:Ratio 2 produced works specifically for the exhibition, taking up the question of how “scaling down” influences their approaches to their medium and art practice.
